Description
For a long time I have been wanting to do a series on the Vietnam War. At lease the war from my prospective as a Sonar Technician on the U.S.S Southerland, DD743 between 1965 - 1969. Once I get going on this, I am going to try and keep it upbeat -- and hopefully do 6-12 pieces. We've all experienced more than enough of the downside and crap that went on so I thought I would start with "The End!".
My start! This is the war as it ended - ( officially in 1973 ) Pushover represents the last helicopter to be pushed into the South China Sea in order to make room for evacuees being flown to the Carriers from the Embassy in Saigon.
I was inspired by an AP photo that was published in a special "Salute to the Veterans of the Vietnam War in 2012 by USA Today. To all of our Veterans..."Welcome Home!"
