Painting cities can be handled in a number of ways. This is a wet-in-wet watercolor using characteristic shapes to indicate a group of buildings without getting into specific detail within each structure. It's also a painting about light and how light plays on the structures. The bright rectangle in the center of the painting represents strong light that reflects of the glass windows. The illusion we create is that of lots of windows without painting any windows. This piece is certainly cooler that it is warm and even though the piece is lighter than it is dark, the strong dark structure to the right of center is the primary focus and main character in the piece.
