Hilton Head has some wonderful areas where you can sit under the Live Oaks covered with Spanish Moss and look out to to distant shores. Working out the complexities of how to convince the eye that the heavy live oak branches at the bottom of the tree are coming toward the viewer without moving the eye off the page is an interesting challenge. Foreshortening is probably one of the most difficult processes to grasp. Not only does the drawing need to be accurate, the application of painting light against dark so that the painting itself is convincing must is also an interesting challenge. Hopefully the eye moves into the large trunk of the tree and then out to the distant shore. Let me know what you think. email me at tonyv@theartdude.com
