When I start the painting process, whether watercolor, oil or acrylic, for me the canvas is a way for me to be as creative and expressive as needed to tell a story. These stories usually come from real life adventures and this piece is no different than many that I've done.
It's not that I am not use to seeing people dressed in character. After all, I live in Plymouth and see actors playing the part of early pilgrims either downtown near the Mayflower or at Plimoth Plantation. Once a year around September and October, King Richards Faire brings the renaissance to life by recreating a 16th-century marketplace, including musicians, singers, dancers, minstrels, mimes and so on.
San Antonio Cowboy is a little different in my mind. It's about the past meeting the present.
