This is part of my mood series. I am painting wet into wet. It's not quite what I refer to as abstract realism – it's more representational – but very loose in my approach to using the medium. The background is meant to be fluid and designed to create a bit of energy around the sultry look of the model. It also help to create the feeling of wildly abandoned moves as the models hair suggests a disheveled look as she suddenly turns toward the viewer. There are characteristic brushstrokes in the background that help to create this mood which can only be achieved if the paper is wet. The idea is to not labor over the painting but try to achieve an emotion, a mood that is believable.
