Although more than half the painting depicts the individual reaching out to feed this precious little girl, she alone is meant to be the focal point of the piece. Her expression of gratitude is precious.
The contrast between the massive figure of a man on the right and the soft, gentle figure of this little girl on the left speaks volumes.
